Bedders
About This Spot
Stepping into Bedders on Coventry Road, you’re gently welcomed by the comforting hum of a local favourite — a no-frills, unpretentious spot where the heart of fish and chips cooking beats steadily. The space itself is modest, inviting a relaxed rhythm that feels just right for a quick bite or a casual catch-up. It’s the kind of place where the pace slows down just enough to savor the simple joy that comes with classic, well-executed fare.
The air carries the familiar, salty aroma of freshly battered fish frying alongside golden chips, mingling with hints of robust curry sauce and warming mushy peas. There’s a quiet assurance here, a feeling that you’re in good hands with food that’s thoughtfully prepared — not piled sky-high, but presented with just the right balance, thoughtful portioning that respects both hunger and appetite.
What makes Bedders linger in the memory isn’t only the food but the seamless blend of friendly attentiveness and earnestness behind the counter. Whether it’s your first visit or one of many, the staff’s helpful nature gently elevates the experience beyond the quick-serve cliché. It’s a comforting, genuine moment in the bustle of Birmingham’s neighborhood life — a place where the simple pleasures of fish and chips are honored with sincerity.
The menu nods to familiar favourites while adding curious little touches that hint at something distinctive — like the comforting addition of bread and a well-chosen drink alongside your meal, or unexpected sides that offer bursts of flavour without complexity. The result is a casual, homely encounter that feels both steady in its tradition and quietly refreshing in its approach.
In many ways, Bedders captures a snapshot of community life: a place that invites you to pause, enjoy a steady classic, and share in those everyday, unspoken moments that make local dining feel heartfelt and real.

Very nice food, super quick service for £12 you get fish and chips, a sauce of your liking, a bread and a drink well worth it.

We visited here after reading the reviews online of their fish and chips. It's a short bus ride from Birmingham City, and we arrived around 1:30 pm. The place is small and the staff is very helpful. We ordered Cod with a side of peas and gravy. The portion size is good, and the service was also great. I thought the price was a bit on the higher side - 12 pounds. This may be my pallet that is used to having irish fish and chips, so I found thiers a bit bland and perhaps needed more seasoning.

We always enjoy a trip to Bedders, knowing that we will receive A1 food, service at a decent price. The potions are spot on, not piled high but not skimpy. These days it's more of a special occasion as we don't live in the area anymore. Still serves up a great experience. Full marks & keep doing what you do, cos it's fantastic

First time here and I loved it. Perfect fish, delicious chips and sides. Great value for money too. The video below costs £15pp including 2 roe pieces and an extra curry sauce
